Type A Projects principals transformed this architecturally significant, yet decayed edifice of a landmarked ribbon factory into a dynamic home for over 750 public school students in Upper Manhattan. Our team was responsible for developing and implementing strategic design priorities that produced affordable, inspiring, durable spaces for this community-based secondary school. As turn-key developers, we aggressively negotiated favorable master lease terms and strategically managed design and construction within tight budget constraints. Through rigorous management of difficult site conditions in an occupied school building, our renovation yielded an additional 16 classrooms, six science labs, small instruction rooms, and administrative offices.
