In March 2022, Type A, M-Squared and L+M in collaboration with Newark’s University Hospital broke ground on a 78-unit mixed-use, ground-up development that will include affordable and supportive housing and a community health care clinic. Located in Newark’s Fairmount neighborhood, the Georgia King Village Outparcel project is part of the NJHMFA’s Hospital Partnership Pilot Program aimed at creating new community health resources in conjunction with affordable and supportive housing. University Hospital’s 8,000 square foot ground floor clinic will offer primary and preventative health care as well as programming and services in collaboration with public agencies and local service organizations such as financial literacy, job readiness training, career development, nutrition classes, assistance with accessing public benefits and other community-focused programming.
